The Northbrook Calendar is a public Google Calendar.  Below are instructions for adding the calendar directly onto your smart phone so you can keep track all Northbrook happenings.

You may also find additional help on the internet for these or other devices.  You will be looking for instructions on adding a public Google calendar to your device.  While we offer these instructions as a tool to assist you with using the Northbrook Google Calendar, please also understand that we do not have technical support staff to handle setting up or troubleshooting everyone's phones!  Please seek assistance from your usual go-to tech person if you need help with this.  Thanks for understanding!


Step 1

You need the URL for the Northbrook Google Calendar.  This is the URL to copy and paste or re-type as described in Step 4 below.

Step 2

Tap the "Settings" icon, then scroll down and select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars."

Step 3

Tap "Add Account" and select "Other."

Step 4

Select the "Add Subscribed Calendar" option, fill in the Google Calendar URL in the Server box and click "Next." Change any settings you see fit before saving the calendar. You do not need a username or password.  If you do not want event reminders, set 'Remove Alarms' to the on position.

If you were able to successfully subscribe to the calendar, but the events are not showing up, check that the Northbrook Church calendar has a check mark under "Show Calendars" from within the calendar app.


To subscribe to the calendar on your Android based phone , you first need to subscribe to the appropriate calendar in the Google Calendar account that is associated with your phone. Since all Android phones need to have an associated Google account, this should not be a problem. Once you have subscribed, the calendar should appear in the native phone calendar application.

Part 1:

Step 1:

Go to Google Calendar on the web (this needs to be done on a non-mobile device as the Add by URL option below is not available in the mobile browser)

Step 2:

Choose "Other calendars" (on the left panel of the page)

Step 3:

In the dropdown menu, choose "Add by URL"

Step 4:

Insert the Northbrook calendar's URL address (copy and paste from below) and click "Add Calendar," and you should be all set.

Part 2:

The next part for an Android device is for the calendar to sync to your mobile device.  The steps below may or may not be necessary.

On your Android device, you may have to clear the existing calendars and re-sync the data for a new calendar to show up.

Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / Calendar -> Clear Data

then Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / Calendar Storage -> Clear Data

Wait a few minutes and you should be able to see the new calendar.

AND/OR...If the new calendar does not show up, also do the following:

Settings / Accounts & sync -> select your account, uncheck the "Sync Calendar" option 

Wait a few minutes and re-check the Sync Calendar option to see

It is possible that if you have 2-step verification enabled on your phone, you may have to remove the account entirely and re-add it.
